To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock festival Virgin Airlines flew us back to the location where it all happenned. In July 1969 a crowd of approaching 500,000 descended upon the tiny village of Bethel, New York State. About an hour from Woodstock itself, the site looks very different today. A huge museum complex sits within a few acres of very well maintained farmland - the site where the actual festival took place. We met a few of the original festival goers who recounted their experiences from that legendary weekend and some of the people involved with maintaining the regions rich musical history. Woodstock and the surrounding area is fast becoming a very desirable location for wealthy New Yorkers, but is determined to hold on to its original ‘Hippy’ charm.
