In mid February I took a drive up to the historical cathedral city of Ripon in Yorkshire. My commission from American Airline’s magazine ‘American Way’ to shoot the worlds longest ongoing tradition - The Nightwatchman or Hornblowers of Ripon. For over 1200 years at 9pm every night the Nightwatchmen’s horn can be heard echoing around the towns central market place. Amazingly only using 5 horns that entire time. Their ranks have recently been joined by the first female hornblower Allison Clark.
